The Base Supply Centers are only open to government purchases (GPC) and authorized base and/or post contractors. These centers also work as support elements for local Logistics Command/Readiness of each base and/or post.

In addition to selling supplies produced by the visually impaired, both the Barksdale and Fort Johnson Base Supply Centers employ people who are blind or visually impaired allowing them to gain work experience and foster a sense of independence.

By providing direct jobs at the Base Supply Centers and indirect jobs through purchasing blind-made products, these centers are doing their part to reduce the 70 percent national unemployment rate for those with visual impairment, all while offering convenience to federal customers.
