The Louisiana Association for the Blind (LAB) has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for the blind through training, services, and employment for over 80 years. We now offer a new Low Vision Center to serve the ARKLATEX area. Our center provides a full range of services and low vision products for people at all age levels, who are legally blind or low vision. The Center is a one-stop location with three distinct areas: the Low Vision Clinic offering Low Vision Evaluations after referral from your eye care professional; Sensory Aids Store that is open daily to the general public offering the latest technology to enhance your remaining vision levels; and a Training Center offering complete rehabilitation services and programs for all ages. The Center eliminates the stress and time spent traveling between multiple facilities to obtain these services! All services are designed to meet your personal goals and needs. The Center has a highly qualified staff of professionals on site, who give personal attention to every client and every detail.

To participate in a Low Vision Evaluation, all you need to do is ask your Optometrist or Ophthalmologist for a low vision evaluation referral. Our staff will perform the necessary testing to determine what aids may help you improve your remaining vision. As an approved provider for Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, we teach clients the skills necessary to re-enter the workforce to include orientation and mobility training, Braille, independent living skills, computer navigation and other specific training to reach individual employment goals. We are an approved Medicare provider.
