Executive Staff & Board Members

Shelly Taylor
is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Louisiana Association for the Blind (LAB) in Shreveport, Louisiana. Shelly has been with LAB since 1995 having served as Senior Vice President, Vice President of Marketing, Director of Community Relations and Services, and Public Relations and Fundraising Manager.

Shelly serves on the NAEPB Communications Committee and BSC Committee. She was a member of the 2010-2011 NIB Board and currently serves on the Legislative and Regulatory Policy Committee and the Budget and Fee Ceiling Committee, as well as the Youth Enrichment Board of Directors, SMEI, Lions Club.

Shelly received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Liberal Arts, Magna Cum Laude from Louisiana State University and her Master’s in Business Administration, Cum Laude from Centenary College. She has been honored with the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award 1999, Sales & Marketing Executives (SMEI).

Doug Young
is Vice President of Operations at Louisiana Association for the Blind (LAB) in Shreveport, Louisiana. Doug has been with LAB since February 1995 having served as Production Supervisor for the Xerographic Department, Plant Manager for the Xerographic and Deck Covering facility, and Director of Operations for the same facility.

Doug is a retired veteran from the U.S. Air Force where he served 20 years as a Munitions Systems Specialist. While in the Air Force he completed 52 credit hours toward an Associates Degree in Munitions Systems Technology. Upon retiring he attended Aires Institute and received certification as a Heating an Air Conditioning Technician. After being employed at LAB he received an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration at Bossier Parish Community College, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Project Management from Colorado Technical University.

Tom Tyler
is Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Louisiana Association for the Blind (LAB) in Shreveport, Louisiana. Tom joined LAB in 2008 as Director of the Low Vision Rehabilitation Center and assumed the role of VP of Sales in June of 2010.

Prior to joining LAB, Tom spent twenty-seven years in paper and packaging sales and distribution. Tom served in the United States Air Force after receiving his BS degree from Mississippi State University.
